Fort Stewart The 3rd Infantry Division, which led the initial attack on Iraq little more than three years ago, is headed back to the combat zone for the third time. Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, the division commander, said Tuesday that the more than 20,000 soldiers in the unit are preparing for yet another trip to Iraq less than a year after they returned from the second tour in January. "By next fall, the majority of the 3rd Infantry Division will be deployed back to combat operations in Iraq," Lynch said during a meeting with regional reporters.
